The Flat foot shift works just like launch control except that it uses a different RPM. When you are not moving the launch control RPM is used, when you are at speed the flat foot shift RPM is used. It is just a reduction of the factory rev limiter when the clutch is disengaged. If you leave your foot to the floor you will not loose boost during shifts. If you have ever driven a turbocharged automatic you would see the benefits of this. The reason it can cause less stress on the transmission is that if it is setup properly and you shift at the correct RPM it can effectively rev match your upshifts and let the transmission engage smoother. Well I would start with a ffs point about 4000 rpm.
You will have to memorize your shift points for each gear. You may have to shift about 6200 in first 6000 in second maybe 5800 in 3rd. You will have to play with your settings and shift points tilll you get it all right. When you set up lc and flat foot shift remember the value you use is a delta(reduction) in the rev limiter. So if the rev limit fuel cut is set to 6700 rpm the delta would be 2700 to get a 4000 rpm ffs. From my experience running to fuel cut will cause the car to fall on its face, maybe they are using a different setting within the map, or even a change to the hard code. I just did mine;D i think i may go out later tonight when their is no one driving and try to fool around a lil with it to get it right his install had me set the FFS to 5000RPM 2000 Delta and the LC to 4000RPM 3000 Delta and he said his numbers where based off a 7000rpm rev limiter is our cars 6700rpm???
And does the XPT map affect that??? I was thinking about setting the FFS to 0 and doing a big log of the car in every gear and try and see where would be the best spot to set it to, i think 5000 is to high i felt like i was frying the clutch when i let out and what MPH should i set the LC speed to.
